Commissioning Process: Music

First Contact

We’ll speak to you about what your requirements might be, we’ll help you form any ideas in to something realistic and find out a little about you and about what you feel the new music might be for. From this we’ll be able to suggest a range of options (and costs) from which you can choose.

Identification of a Composer

We’ll identify someone to work with you and approach them on your behalf. We work with many different professional composers – some of whom are listed on our site and some who aren’t – who each have a different approach to composition; we are sure that we’ll be able to find someone whose work you’ll find interesting and who will want to write something for you!

Project Management

Throughout the entire process we’ll liaise with you and the composer to ensure that things are moving along smoothly. We’ll provide regular progress updates as and when required. We’ll ensure that rather than hearing nothing until the work is finished you can be as involved as you’d like to be!

The New Work

For a new composition we’ll organise a performance, recording and possibly even publication of the end product! This is where Arcomis is in a unique position to be able to provide you with something that you can ‘touch’ in the form of a performance, recording or both!

A Life After the Project!

Arcomis, through its links with professional performance ensembles is able to promote commissioned music after the first performance so that it may have further performances around the world!

Costs

We have experience of working on all types of projects, ranging from commissions costing several hundred pounds to large-scale projects with budgets in excess of £100k. All music commissioning projects are unique.
